I know everyone in their hearts never want to see what I have seen?
Poverty at its worst, I still shed a tear when I think of children as
young as three scavenging in piles of rubbish metres high just to find
something to eat! I try and send parcels overseas a couple of times a year
and sometimes I get people giving me socks and I sadly shake my head and
tell them that the people that receive these gifts don't have any shoes!
This is a place where Two dollars can change a family's eating habits, where
children get fed or don't get fed, where there is a separate breakfast and
also a dinner, the simple things we take for granted here in Australia. I am
not saying charity does not start at home, but I believe we have enough to
spread our joy just that little bit further.
All I ask is if you have anything at home that you don't need or
think that these people can use, donate it to my cause and I will see it
reaches the homes of the people who will greatly appreciate it. I am begging
you from the deepest parts of my heart, please dig deep and feel empathy for
the underprivileged.
I asked my foster Father who is an Anglican minister to put up an A4 sized
poster on the church notice board to help me raise toys and books for a
Philippine Orphanage Christmas Parcel last year and was told because I was
not a registered charity, he would not help, I was very hurt by this and
could not understand the logic to the Answer. If we can all do a little bit
to help, the world would be a much better place.
